Kindergarten Roundup
What a day….. We had Kindergarten Roundup at school today, which was a huge success. Being in technology support, I wanted to see that the new parents saw what we are doing with technology to teach the children their lessons.
I worked from 7 am to 3 pm getting the Kindergarten rooms setup with a PowerPoint presentation, a reading program runnng and one of the links below in IE. From 3 to 6 pm I worked in the K1 Lab setting up the computers with demo’s of other programs that we use to teach Math, Math Blasters is a great program available at your local Target for around $29.99, and getting some reading programs running. From 6:30 till 8 pm we had the parents and kids at the school for our presentation.
That of course didn’t leave any time for dinner, but did give me time to see and hear what parents want to know about their child’s first foray into the educational system.
Here are a few good sites that will help your child to read and basically get them ready for Kindergarten:
- Learn to Read with Starfall
- Alpha-Zoo Concentration Game
- The Ball
- Scholastic -Your Early Learner
- Scholastic -Kindergarten
- AOL@School
I hope that these links give you somewhere to start and help your child be the best that they can be.
