David Sollenberger, the Sarasota FL. City Manager from 1987-2001 retired today from public service as the City Manager of Plant City FL. I lived here through his whole tenure in Sarasota and was sad to see him leave. I feel he did a great job in leading Sarasota to a very prominent place in Florida tourism. He helped the city grow, along with melding many different personalities of the City Council that he had to deal with.
I met Mr. Sollenberger a few times through my father. He is a very nice man, I want to wish Mr. Sollenberger and his wife a very happy retirement.
Thank you for your service to my community.

Monday will be the 68th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor. I was born on the 18th anniversary of this day in our history and have read, listened and watched just about everything about that day. I’ve read the history, the conspiracy theories and the just plain FUD (fear, uncertainty and doubt). This was a changing point in our history that got us into WWII. I won’t go into my thoughts on why or what happened other than to say that I believe more could have been done to prevent the loss of 2,403 American lives that day and the many more that lost their lives in WWII.
Below are links to important facts about Pearl Harbor. Read them, remember them so we don’t make the same mistakes now and in the future.
