Here are some great free pieces of software that you can add to your computers. They will make teaching and lesson plans easier, more fun and downright up there on the technology scale.

audacity

Audacity is a free, easy-to-use audio editor and recorder for Windows, Mac OS X, GNU/Linux, and other operating systems. You can use Audacity to:

  • Record live audio.
  • Convert tapes and records into digital recordings or CDs.
  • Edit Ogg Vorbis, MP3, and WAV sound files.
  • Cut, copy, splice, and mix sounds together.
  • Change the speed or pitch of a recording.

Google Earth is a powerful platform for creating, exploring, and visualizing location-specific information. Check the boxes under the “Layers” and “Places” sections in the left sidebar to see how people and organizations use Google Earth to share their visions of the world - or download a Google Earth KML file from someone like this guy.
